Who Does the Court Notify When You Divorce?

People value their privacy – this is, of course, entirely understandable and, as no one (or very few of us at least) would want the fact that we are in the process of going through a divorce – or that it has recently been finalised – to be publicised, it should come as no surprise that the title of this post is a question that we are regularly asked here at Quickie Divorce. Fortunately, there is no reason to be concerned. When sending out documents concerning to a divorce application (including the Decree Absolute), the courts will send these to the Petitioner and Respondent, only. What this means is that, with the exception of these parties and those individuals that they choose to inform, no one will be made aware of their divorce. The courts will merely provide both parties with a copy of their Decree Absolute as proof of the fact that they are divorced and the parties then use this to inform any organisations that may need to be informed of this. So, if you intend to apply for a divorce, you can rest assured that it will remain confidential and that your privacy will not be compromised.
