Woman Uses Divorce to Sell Home

In times of austerity, a touch of creative marketing can make all the difference. That said, you wouldn’t think a divorce could be used to effectively advertise a property… until now. Following her having divorced her philandering husband, photographer and graphic designer, Elle Zober of Portland, Oregon, created a bespoke sales sign that not only advertised the property, but also lambasted her cheating husband. The sign, which was erected earlier this week, reads “Husband left us for a 22-year-old, House for sale by scorned, slightly bitter, newly single owner” attracted the attention of local news teams within mere hours, with interest in the property having skyrocketed as a result. Not only has Zober’s creativity resulted in free publicity, she’s also been contacted by several potential suitors all eager to meet the recently divorced 37-year-old; one of whom is even currently in prison. Whilst it may seem that Zober is more than a little aggravated, she insists that this is not the case, claiming that her former-husband not only approved of the sign, but also found it to be hilarious and highly original. "Both the ex and I are surprised at the assumptions of revenge and anger, especially since he knew about it," she stated during a recent interview. Not everyone has seen the funny side of said billboard – some claiming that the sign will have a detrimental effect on her young son and daughter. Zober, though makes no apologies, arguing that neither of her children are old enough to watch the news or access any other medium through which they could discover the furore that the advert has caused. Zober, meanwhile, has stated that whilst she does understand why some people have found the sign offensive, but went on to add that that whilst divorce is scarcely viewed whimsically, she had to both move on from her failed marriage and the former marital home. Quickie Divorce wishes her the best of luck.
