Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev has been ordered to pay his former wife a divorce settlement of £2.7 billion – the largest in history. Rybolovlev, who made his fortune from the sale of his stake in Russian fertilizer company Uralkali in 2010, and his former wife, Elena, have been engaged in a legal battle for the past six years with reports having indicated that Rybolovlev had gone to great efforts to hide the full extent of his assets from both Elena and the court. As well as the settlement's substantial financial element, Elena was also awarded the couple’s former family home in Geneva, Switzerland as well as a mansion on Florida’s Palm Beach and a New York Flat. Reports have also indicated that she was awarded custody of the couple’s 13-year-old daughter Anna. The figure was determined following the court having ruled that Rybolovlev -who is the owner of football team Monaco F.C -was worth £5.2 billion – though it has been claimed by both Elena and her legal team that this estimate is inaccurate and that Rybolovlev’s actual value is significantly higher. Elena has also claimed that she has persistently been followed by private investigators following her and Rybolovlev having separated in 2008 which came about, she claims, as a result of his infidelities. The award dwarves the former record of £1.5 billion that art heir Alec Wildenstein was ordered to pay to his former wife Jocelyne in 1999, the same year in which Rupert Murdoch paid his former wife Anna £1 billion following their 33 year marriage having come to an end.
