Could Prenups Bring About a Surge in DIY Divorces?

It is now all but certain that prenuptial agreements will soon become legally binding. As a result, many couples will decide how their assets will be divided in event of a divorce prior to them having married. As this will mean that couples will not need to ask a judge or the court to determine how these should be divided it should, theoretically, make mediators and solicitors redundant as far as the financial side of divorce is concerned. Yes, they may still need to be involved if there are disagreements over any children that the couple may have but it is fair to say that, should a couple have a prenuptial agreement in place, they will rarely need to be involved. This, according to the law commission, will lead to many more couples handling their divorces themselves. Quickie Divorce would agree with this assessment, but would also point out that, in our opinion, it will bring about a far more substantial increase in the number of individuals that seek the assistance of online divorce providers. Whilst many people will be happy to complete their own documents, file these with the court etc. there will be others who will want the peace of mind that comes from knowing that all of the paperwork has been completed correctly and will not be rejected by the courts. Indeed, any person that completes and submits these documents should have the utmost confidence in their abilities and will almost certainly have had to research the court’s requirements beforehand. If an individual does not prepare correctly (something which can take a significant amount of time) then they will find that the courts reject their application, inform them of why and invite them to submit amended documents. You may now be thinking that this is fine; that this will mean that the divorce will take longer but that this is not cause for concern. Unfortunately, as the courts charge £105 for each set of amended documents that someone submits (along with a fee of £410 simply to file the documents) mistakes can be extremely costly and, unfortunately, they are easily made. It is for this reason that we feel that many more people will enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that their divorce is being dealt with by professionals and use companies such as the UK’s largest provider of online divorces www.quickie-divorce.com following prenuptial agreements  having become binding.
